Pirates’ Ryan O’Hearn sets club record with 10 RBIs during 3-homer night vs. Braves

Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Ryan O’Hearn made history by driving in 10 runs with three home runs in a 12-4 victory over Atlanta. O’Hearn hit a grand slam and a three-run homer off Atlanta’s Hurston Waldrep, and another three-run shot off reliever Connor Thomas. This performance broke the Pirates’ previous record of nine RBIs set in 1939 and marked the highest in the majors this year. O’Hearn, who joined the Pirates in the offseason, narrowly missed joining the four-homer club with a single in the ninth inning. He also became the 16th player in the Pirates’ history to hit three homers in a single game. QUESTION: How might breaking a long-standing sports record impact a player’s career and the team’s morale?
