Notre Dame, Ohio State announce lucrative jersey patch sponsorship deals on the same day

Notre Dame and Ohio State have secured significant jersey patch sponsorship deals, collectively worth around $30 million, as schools explore new revenue opportunities. Ohio State’s agreement with JPMorgan Chase is reportedly valued at $17 million annually, while Notre Dame’s deal with SoFi Technologies is estimated between $18 million and $20 million. These partnerships come in the wake of a $2.8 billion antitrust settlement that allows schools to pay players through licensing deals. Notre Dame’s agreement includes a $1.4 million annual fund to support scholarships and student-athlete development. Ohio State will feature Chase Bank logos on uniforms across its 36 varsity sports. These deals aim to enhance student-athlete experiences and uphold the schools’ traditions and values. QUESTION: How might these sponsorship deals influence the future of college sports and the experiences of student-athletes?
