PSG starts title defense with Champions League powers Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal also in action

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is set to compete in the Champions League on Wednesday, leading a lineup of six games. PSG, a two-time titleholder, will face Slovan Bratislava, following the nomination of ten of its players for the Ballon d’Or award. Arsenal, last season’s finalist, will play against Napoli, while Liverpool, under new coach Andoni Iraola, will host Atletico Madrid in a rematch of last year’s opening round. Barcelona will face Feyenoord, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst returning to Camp Nou as a coach. Other matches include Viking debuting against Stuttgart and Sporting Lisbon hosting Galatasaray. PSG, despite a slow start in Ligue 1, aims to peak later in the season. Slovan’s coach, Yaya Touré, makes history as the first African to lead a team in the main phase of the competition. Atletico’s coach, Diego Simeone, continues his long tenure, seeking the elusive European title. QUESTION: How might PSG’s early struggles in Ligue 1 impact their performance in the Champions League this season?
