Gutierres scores 2 stoppage-time goals, Boston Legacy beat Washington Spirit 3-0

Amanda Gutierres scored two late goals to secure a 3-0 victory for the Boston Legacy over the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League. Boston led 1-0 before Gutierres capitalized on a defensive error in the 94th minute, scoring from 40 yards out. She added another goal two minutes later from a cross by Lilly Reale. Aïssata Traoré had opened the scoring in the 81st minute. In another match, the Chicago Stars drew 1-1 with the Portland Thorns. Taylor Wood scored a late equalizer for Chicago, who struggled defensively, having conceded a record-tying 54 goals this season. Portland initially led due to an own goal by Chicago’s Maitane. Despite recent heavy losses, Chicago managed to hold Portland scoreless after the own goal.
