Those Viral Bodega Peptides Aren’t Actually Peptides

A bodega in Brooklyn, New York, known as Mr. Green, gained attention for selling injectable peptides, substances claimed to help with weight loss and recovery. WIRED purchased four types of peptides from the store and sent them to a lab for testing. The results revealed that the vials did not contain the active ingredients they were supposed to, raising concerns about their authenticity and safety. Despite being marketed for “research use only,” these peptides are not approved for human consumption in the US, and their benefits are not well-supported by evidence. This situation highlights the risks of buying unregulated substances and the importance of proper testing and approval processes. QUESTION: Why do you think people are willing to buy and use substances that are not approved or properly tested?
