Meta’s Muse shopping agent is a hit, as AI commerce starts to take off

Muse.Meta’s new personal AI agent has quickly become the top app on Apple’s App Store, surpassing ChatGPT, as consumers increasingly rely on AI to save time and money. Neil Saunders from GlobalData Retail highlights the growing trend of “agentic shopping,” where AI tools like Muse handle tasks such as comparing deals and finding products. Since its launch two weeks ago, Muse has been downloaded over 2.5 million times, though Amazon has blocked it from their platform due to security concerns. Unlike traditional chatbots, Muse can perform actions like booking flights and tracking price drops, offering users convenience and savings. A Coresight survey found that 30% of consumers would use AI for holiday shopping deals. Despite its popularity, broader adoption of AI shopping agents may take time due to trust issues stemming from AI mishaps. QUESTION: How might the increasing use of AI shopping agents like Muse change the way people shop in the future?
