Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer now questions whether she killed her 3 children

In a dramatic turn of events, Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial ended in a mistrial after the jury was deadlocked 11 to 1 in her favor. Clancy, a former nurse, was accused of killing her three children in 2023. Her defense focused on her mental state, arguing she suffered from postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible. At a recent hearing, her lawyer, Kevin Reddington, claimed there wasn’t enough evidence to prove she committed the murders, highlighting her mental condition and lack of memory. Prosecutors, however, argued that Clancy knew her actions were wrong, citing evidence that she planned the incident by sending her husband out of the house. The case remains unresolved, and it’s uncertain if Clancy will face a second trial. QUESTION: How might understanding mental health issues like postpartum psychosis change the way society views criminal responsibility?
