Stats don’t support Flock’s claim of solving 1 million crimes

Flock Safety, a surveillance camera startup, claims its technology helped solve over a million crimes in the U.S. in 2025. However, a CBS News investigation found no evidence to support this claim. Flock’s CEO, Garrett Langley, has repeatedly cited this statistic, but the company later clarified that the figure includes not just solved cases but also investigative leads and other uses of their technology. Despite this clarification, Flock did not provide data to back up the claim. The company explained that their estimate was based on a survey of about 700 law enforcement agencies and included various types of assistance provided by their technology. Experts have criticized the reliability of Flock’s statistics, suggesting they may not be trustworthy. QUESTION: How might the use of surveillance technology like Flock’s impact privacy and security in your community?
