Renee Good: Family of US woman killed by ICE agent sues Trump officials

The family of Renee Good, a woman killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Minneapolis, has filed two lawsuits against the US government and members of the Trump administration. Good was shot during Operation Metro Surge, a citywide sweep targeting immigrants and criminals. Her family claims the operation fostered an environment of state-sponsored violence. The lawsuits, filed by Good’s partner and brother, accuse the government of negligence and intentional harm, citing the Federal Tort Claims Act. They also target ICE officer Jonathan Ross and several senior federal officials, alleging a conspiracy to interfere with civil rights. Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, was killed during a traffic stop, with authorities claiming she attempted to harm agents, a claim disputed by her family and witnesses. Her death, followed by another similar incident, sparked nationwide protests. Good’s mother, a registered Republican, testified to Congress, calling for accountability while expressing forgiveness. QUESTION: How might the outcome of these lawsuits influence future immigration enforcement operations in the United States?
