Christa Pike unconscious, on ventilator after botched execution, lawyers say

Christa Pike is in critical condition and on a ventilator after a failed execution attempt by lethal injection in Tennessee. Her lawyers reported that the execution team used at least seven needles, with one bending at a 90-degree angle, causing her significant distress and injury. Pike, who has a blood condition complicating the procedure, was heard expressing pain and concern during the attempt. Her arms were found swollen, burned, and blistered, likely due to pentobarbital leaking from her veins. Her attorneys have filed a request for the Tennessee Department of Correction to preserve all evidence related to the incident. Pike is currently receiving medical care to remove the drug from her system. QUESTION: How might this incident influence public opinion on the use of lethal injection as a method of execution?
