Man accused in Cornell case allegedly asked student not to “say anything,” transcript says

New details have emerged in the alleged rape case at Cornell University involving several fraternity members. CBS News New York obtained a Title IX record that includes accounts from Jane Doe, interviews with six of the seven accused men, and statements from 20 witnesses. A student who was at the Chi Phi house on the night of the alleged 2024 assault reported receiving a call from one of the accused, asking her to ensure her friend didn’t mention anything about that night. Initially, she thought he was just embarrassed, but later found the request concerning after a campus crime alert was issued. The friend and her roommate reported the incident to Cornell Police, but the fate of their witness statement is unclear. The district attorney, who initially declined to press charges, has reopened the investigation. QUESTION: How might the reopening of this investigation impact the campus community and the individuals involved?
