FlyDubai suspected attacker intended to crash into Tel Aviv airport, sources say

An alleged attacker on a FlyDubai flight to Israel intended to crash the plane into Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport, according to two senior U.S. officials and an Israeli source. The suspect, Hamam Al-Hammani, had previously been flagged as a security risk and was suspended as a trainee copilot at Oman Air in 2024 for possessing extremist materials. This raises concerns about how he was later hired by FlyDubai. The investigation is ongoing, and more updates are expected. QUESTION: How might the hiring processes for airline staff change to prevent similar security risks in the future?
