Israel was prepared to shoot down FlyDubai plane, sources say

Last week, a FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv faced a critical situation when the co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain and attempted to crash the plane. As the aircraft descended rapidly, Israeli authorities prepared to intercept it, fearing a potential 9/11-style attack. Fighter jets were deployed, and Israel’s airspace was closed. However, the plane diverted towards Saudi Arabia, where Saudi jets took over. Onboard, the captain managed to unlock the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to subdue the co-pilot. Two off-duty pilots then safely landed the plane in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Israeli sources revealed that if the plane had continued towards Israel, a decision to shoot it down could have been made to prevent a catastrophic attack. The incident is under investigation, with early findings suggesting it was a lone-wolf attack. The co-pilot is currently being interrogated in the UAE. QUESTION: How might this incident influence future security measures on international flights?
