SCOTUS hears major climate change case. And, Brazil’s presidential race goes to runoff

Investigators have revealed that a co-pilot on a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv attempted to crash the plane into Israel’s Ben Gurion airport, classifying the incident as a terrorist attack. The co-pilot, reportedly from Oman, acted alone using a crash axe, raising concerns about how he was permitted to fly in Israeli airspace, given the country’s restrictions on pilots from certain nations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged a “loophole” in the vetting process. Meanwhile, a new Supreme Court term begins with a significant climate change case involving Boulder, Colorado, suing Suncor and Exxon Mobil for allegedly misleading the public about fossil fuel harms. This case could influence other states’ efforts to hold companies accountable for environmental damage. Only eight justices will hear the case due to Justice Sam Alito’s recusal over potential conflicts of interest. QUESTION: How might increased security measures for pilots impact international travel and relations?
