Nobel Prize in chemistry set to be awarded in Stockholm

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences is set to award the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in Stockholm. Last year, the prize was given to three scientists for creating new molecular structures capable of trapping large amounts of gas, which could help remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere or collect moisture in deserts. This year’s Nobel prizes began with the Medicine award, recognizing scientists for developing a light-based tool to explore brain functions, followed by the Physics prize for research on a rare group of neutrinos. The Literature prize will be announced Thursday, the Peace prize on Friday, and the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences on Monday. The prize money for this year is 12 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to about $1.2 million. QUESTION: How might the advancements recognized by the Nobel Prize in Chemistry impact efforts to combat climate change in the future?
