Medical company announces program for ‘AI-powered prescriptions’ in Utah

Nolla Health, a New York City-based healthcare company, has launched a pilot program in Utah that allows artificial intelligence (AI) to issue initial prescriptions for acne treatment. This program, the first of its kind in the U.S., aims to make healthcare more accessible by reducing the need for dermatologist visits. Utah residents aged 18 and older can use the Nolla Derm app to receive personalized acne treatment plans for $4.99 a month without an office visit. The program will roll out in three stages, with physician oversight at each stage to ensure safety and effectiveness. The company believes acne treatment is a suitable starting point for AI prescriptions due to its low risk and strong clinical backing. QUESTION: How might the use of AI in healthcare change the way people access medical treatment in the future?
