A student hated reading for years. Her podcast explores finding the right diagnosis

Cora Walsh, a seventh-grader from Long Island, has turned her personal journey with dyslexia into a prize-winning podcast titled “Dyslexia and MEE,” which won the grand prize in NPR’s Student Podcast Challenge. Despite struggling with reading for years and only receiving a correct diagnosis after five years, Cora’s determination and hard work have paid off. With the support of her parents and two years of tutoring, she has improved her reading skills and now enjoys reading more. Her story highlights the challenges and triumphs of living with dyslexia and her aspirations to study neuroscience at Princeton.
