Kent Johnson scores lone goal in shootout to give Blue Jackets 3-2 win over Penguins

Kent Johnson scored the decisive goal in a shootout, leading the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Damon Severson contributed a goal and an assist, while Mathieu Olivier also scored for Columbus. Cole Sillinger added two assists, and Cam Talbot made 20 saves, successfully blocking all three of Pittsburgh’s shootout attempts. Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust scored for the Penguins, with Malkin tying the game at 2-2 early in the third period. Despite Sergei Murashov’s 43 saves in regulation, the Penguins were outshot 45-22 and outperformed in faceoffs and hits. The Penguins have now lost three consecutive games after winning their first two of the season. Columbus will face the St. Louis Blues next, while Pittsburgh will host the Dallas Stars. QUESTION: How might the Blue Jackets’ strong performance in faceoffs and shots on goal influence their future games this season?
