Mike Ditka, former Chicago Bears head coach, dies at 86

Mike Ditka, a legendary figure in football, has passed away at the age of 86. Known for his remarkable career as both a player and coach, Ditka’s journey began in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, where he used football to rise from his working-class roots. He earned a scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh and became an All-American tight end. Drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1961, Ditka revolutionized the tight end position and was named NFL Rookie of the Year. After a successful playing career, including a Super Bowl win with the Dallas Cowboys, Ditka transitioned to coaching. In 1982, he returned to the Bears as head coach, leading them to a Super Bowl victory in 1986.
