Two children and pregnant woman among 8 shot dead at Pennsylvania house

A tragic shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, resulted in the deaths of eight people, including two children and a heavily pregnant woman, before the gunman apparently took his own life. The incident unfolded when police responded to reports of gunfire on Friday afternoon. Upon arrival, officers discovered two women dead outside the home, while the remaining victims, all but one related, were found inside alongside the shooter. The victims included two children aged five and one, two women aged 24 and 44, and two men aged 19 and 21. Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah noted that mental health issues might have played a role, though the motive remains unclear. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro expressed his condolences and offered support to the grieving community. This devastating event highlights the ongoing issue of gun violence in the United States. QUESTION: How might communities work together to prevent such tragedies and support mental health awareness?
