Judge blocks Trump’s White House ban targeting CNN, MS NOW and Politico

A federal judge has blocked President Trump’s attempt to ban CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, allowing reporters from these organizations to maintain access while the case proceeds. Judge Timothy Kelly, appointed by Trump, ruled that revoking the journalists’ hard passes likely violated their First and Fifth Amendment rights. The president had accused these outlets of spreading “fake news” and claimed their reporting posed national security risks. However, the news organizations argued that the ban was retaliatory and lacked due process. The White House had provided lists of articles it deemed problematic, but many were not written by journalists with White House access. The case highlights ongoing tensions between the administration and the press over issues of media freedom and government transparency. QUESTION: How might the relationship between the government and the media evolve if similar legal battles continue to arise?
