Ossoff says “zero interest in running for president” in Georgia debate

In a heated debate, Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff and Republican Rep. Mike Collins clashed over key issues like the war with Iran, rising costs, and the 2020 election results as they vie for a Georgia Senate seat. The debate, part of the Atlanta Press Club Loudermilk-Young Debate Series, was the final exchange before the midterm elections, coinciding with the start of early voting. Ossoff, who has gained national attention but denies any presidential ambitions for 2028, is the only Senate Democrat running for reelection in a state won by Trump in 2024. Collins criticized Ossoff as disconnected from Georgia’s needs, while Ossoff accused Collins of ties to white nationalism and being part of the Washington establishment. Both candidates aim to sway voters in a race crucial for Senate control. QUESTION: How might the outcome of this Senate race impact the political landscape in Georgia and beyond?
