Why your software development lifecycle is slow

AI has significantly reduced the time it takes to write code, but many software development processes are still structured around older bottlenecks. Traditional software development lifecycles (SDLC) were designed when the speed of typing and coordination among team members was the main constraint. Practices like sprints, manual quality checks, and review handoffs were necessary when coding was the slowest part of the process. However, with AI, developers can now write, refactor, and document code much faster than before. Despite this advancement, the speed at which organizations release software has not improved at the same rate. This gap highlights the need for more than just new tools; it requires a reevaluation of the entire development process to fully leverage AI’s capabilities. QUESTION: How might the integration of AI into software development change the skills that future developers need to learn?
