Barbashev scores late on disputed goal as the Golden Knights beat the Ducks 3-1 in Game 1

In the opening game of their second-round series, the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Anaheim Ducks 3-1. Ivan Barbashev scored the decisive goal with less than five minutes remaining, assisted by Pavel Dorofeyev. Brett Howden extended his goal streak to four games, and Mitch Marner added an empty-net goal. Vegas’ penalty kill was effective, preventing Anaheim from scoring on four power-play opportunities. William Karlsson returned to the lineup after an injury, receiving a warm welcome from the crowd. Despite Anaheim’s early dominance, Vegas capitalized on their chances, with Howden scoring first. Mikael Granlund scored for the Ducks, but Barbashev’s late goal secured the win for Vegas. Game 2 is set for Wednesday in Las Vegas. QUESTION: How might the return of a key player like William Karlsson impact a team’s performance and morale in a high-stakes playoff series?
