Amazon Prime customers could get $200 refunds in expanded FTC deal.

Amazon is refunding eligible customers as part of a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over allegations of deceptive enrollment in its Prime subscription service. The FTC expanded the eligibility for refunds, increasing the maximum payment from $51 to $200. As of September, Amazon had refunded over $845 million, with plans to issue $1.5 billion in refunds and pay a $1 billion civil penalty. The revised order now includes customers who used up to 20 Prime benefits and signed up between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025. Refunds are being issued automatically through Venmo, PayPal, or by check, with all eligible customers expected to receive their refunds by April 2027. The FTC warns against scammers posing as the agency regarding this settlement. QUESTION: How might this settlement and refund process influence consumer trust in Amazon and other subscription services?
